Took a Saturday morning 3 hour bike ride through Athens, and got an overview of the main historic sights at a leisurely pace. A coffee break at a charming outdoor cafe with Sapfo's insightful take on Greece and it's people. The shop is centrally located, the service was efficient, and the staff member were friendly and professional. Will return for... More

Is was an excellent city tour an gives a great overview over the city. The city tour took about 3 1/2 hours and passed all important sights. Demos showed us his city and it was a very relaxedted and pleasant. Also his restaurant tips were very helpful. Again any time.

We did the coastal bike tour with Dimos and had a lovely time. Dimos was very personable and full of information. The route was great and included a few really nice stops. The pace of the tour was laid back and Dimos did not rush us at all. Overall, it was a great day with a great guide.

Demetrius and Zorros were a delight and we had one what turned out to be one of our favorite days of our trip...Educational, fun, entertaining..on top of it, Demetrius took photos of all of us along the way and emailed them to us that same day. We rode the Plaka, the park, over to the stadium...had a Greek coffee break.... More

My mother and I did the Athens by Bike tour. Dimitri, our guide, was knowledgeable and funny. We covered a ton of ground and got oriented to the major sites in the city as well as some less well known spots. My mom is 66 and I am 35, and it worked great for both of us. I highly recommend... More

I joined the bike tour at the historic city centre of Athens which was extraordinary. The route was very carefully designed as it covered all major attractions of historical significance, and, our guide Dimitris, was very knowledgeable and friendly. He made our experience very pleasant, was very keen to answer our questions and had taken pictures of the whole group... More

This was my first bike tour, and I must say, it will be hard to do walking tours after this. The bikes were in great shape with bouncy shocks and comfortable seats. We were able to cover way more ground than we would on a walking tour, enabling us to more of the city and to better understand the Acropolis... More

So I think it was my second or third day in Athens when myself and a Friend booked a tour around Athens by bike. Neither of us had ridden recently but that didn't matter, it's not a tough journey. Our guide was with Demetrius, great guy who chatted with everyone a little and kept us together. The trip included a... More

Our guide Demos was lovely and super enthusiastic about Athens and Greek history. The bike tour proceeds at a leisurely pace and you pass all the main sights in the city with plenty of time to explore and take some photos. I'd recommend this tour to anyone who wants to get a first look at Athens and learn about its... More

I booked this tour for my boyfriend and I because I was determined to do something "off the beaten track" while in Athens. Boy, was this tour the perfect decision! Dimos was our knowledgeable, charismatic, and laid-back tour guide. While riding through the designated biking areas, we were able to learn all about ancient and modern Athens. Dimos led us... More

Staying in Thissio / Makriyanni

Neighbourhood Profile
Thissio / Makriyanni
Named after the well-preserved Thission (ancient temple of Hephaestus), Thissio is blessed with a small wooded park and some less frenetic streets that offer numerous quieter places to stay and eat. Largely pedestrianised Apostolou Pavlou Street runs between the Acropolis and forested Filopappou Hill, well worth climbing for more great panoramas, until it merges with Dionysiou Areopagitou Street. This leads to the up-and-coming area of Makriyanni, whose centrepiece is the magnificent new Acropolis Museum. Opposite the museum is the entrance to the southern slopes of the Acropolis, while the eponymous metro station nearby is at the top of Makriyanni Street, another strip of touristic cafés and restaurants.
