I am big fun of these kind of places. I can really recommend the visit of this market for everyone who want to see really nice "raw materials" of delicious foods. The fish market area was amazing. We bought some fig, tomato and mandarin. It...More

A fabulous place for a slow wander. Some great meat and fish stall in a huge market hall. Spend time wandering the streets around to see the junk shops and spice sellers. Loved it much better than the tourist hotspots

If you like markets and passing some time there, this is a fascinating place. No frills, no pretense, it is what it is a place for vendors to purvey their wares. There are sections devoted to meat and sections to fish and seafood. All colorful...More

Come here to feed your senses - sight, smell, sound. Touch if you want, taste after you buy. Lots to experience and take in.

Loved the smell and noise! Very lively Recommend to explore the rest of area around for other local food shops like cheese, nuts and spices.

Fantastic array of meat, fish, fruit and veg and other food stuff spread through the market hall and associated streets. Great prices on delicious Turkish delight and halva. Also many shops selling a mixture of real junk and antiques all piled high and higgledy piggledy...More

Great variety of meats, fish and shellfish, fruits and vegetables. Nothing new for people from rural areas. Those from big cities might be a little surprised or shocked, if they haven't seen so much meat in one place before.

Disappointed by the size and comparative lack of variety of stalls. The guidebook said it was an 'explosion for the senses' but we found it a little dull. Nice fish. Hideous meat. A few herb and spice stalls.

As a non meat eater, i found the miles of flesh and carcasses and the powerful smells in the meat part really overwhelming and I actually got a bit dizzy. The fish part smelled a lot cleaner by comparison and there was every seafood you...More

This is a bright lively colorful spot in the graffiti covered city. It's a fun detour as you're walking to or from the acropolis. Lots of things to see and smell even if you don't buy anything

Omonia Square is as plain in appearance as Syntagma is
grand. Surrounded largely by functional blocks from
the 1950s and 60s and no longer boasting its
underground stalls, the square is now mostly
frequented by immigrants and bargain shoppers. The
most rewarding area to explore is to the south. Set
off down Athinas Street, with the Acropolis gradually
coming into focus in the distance, and you will get a
