Some of the criticisms of the Chania Mercato are unfair. First of all, it's a magnificent building with a 100 years tradition of a market place behind it. Second, it's got shops with local delicacies, like cheese and olives and raki. Third, it's got some...More

Seen one stall seen them all. No variety same stuff in each stall. Wouldn't go out of my way to make a visit. Great if you just had dinner and to walk through. Love markets but nothing exciting.

Small but nice market with local products (mainly chees, olives and souvenirs). Easy to find, surronded by many small stalls.

This is a shoppers delight. Small boutiques, souvenir shops and cafes line the narrow, pedestrian only streets of the old town of Chania. You can spend an entire afternoon browsing or if you are like me, following your spouse into almost every shop in town....More

There were some shops selling food products but the majority were selling souvenirs and nick knacks. There were also a few unappetizing looking restaurants. As much as I like markets, I did not find this one very appealing.

The main market in Khania may see many tourists, but still local people go there for their daily shopping. Absolutely worth a visit, consider buying eadible souvenirs like savoury goat cheese or salted olives and have a tasty meal at one of The genuine tavernas.

This is a massive cross shaped building with historical importance for the whole city. It used to be and still is a meeting point for groceries and locals.
