In ancient Greek mythology, the Acheron river was the entry path to the underworld (the Hades) and the dead were burried with a coin in their mouth- the fare for the ferryman. Today it's merely rafting, kayaking, horse riding and trekking. Gorgeous scenery

It is a really nice activity to do if you are in the area but make sure you can stand cold water. I have to admit that nature there is amazing and the view is breathtaking.

Beautiful and immensely interesting- facts and mythology . Take the boat ride from Ammoudia from the river into the sea. Go to Necromanteion first in Mesopotamia and come to Ammoudia.
