Overview
More
One of the island's oldest villages, and unquestionably it's best preserved, Old Perithia is a Heritage Protected Site in a Designated Area of Natural Beauty. The village, 130 houses & 8 churches, One boutique bed & breakfast, The Merchant's House & local tavernas. The village is slowly and sympathetically being brought back to life by the support of the b&b owners. Visitors can get the best out of their visit with the Guide to Old Perithia which includes a self-guided 1 mile circular walk around the village (available at the B&B). Please park carefully back from the village, consider and respect the local community with not too much noise, and please do not drop litter.

How is this getting 5*? It's supposed to be protected and they are selling properties. Either way apart from tavernas there isn't anything here..

If you are visiting Corfu you will find a hidden gem nestled in the hills of the North end of the island just 8 km from Kassiopi. A quaint old village that was initially lost is now being re-populated and re-built by the local villagers....More

Beautiful and fascinating spot to wander around. The peace is wonderful and the views spectacular. You can wander through the old streets or simply enjoy a meal at one of the tavernas. We ate at the Old Perithia, the food was fresh and delicious. This...More

Village where everyone moved out of, although a few restaurants are now here. High in the hills the old abandoned village is well worth a visit, views are amazing on the way up and the village is lovely. We took a Quad bike rather than...More

An old village with picturesque views of the mountainous area. There are quiet a few houses that are almost in complete disrepair and it won't be long till some become complete ruins, which is a shame, because the traditional buildings on beautiful. Seeing the old...More

This was bigger than I expected. Many people were eating at the taverna at the entrance but there are several in the village so worth checking them before choosing one. It's all very picturesque. It was a nice drive to get here.

A great day spent there at the beginning of May......the Spring flowers were in abundance and the sunshine ensured we had a perfect day wandering around the village. Sadly I was unimpressed with the walnut cake that I had at the oldest taverna.....so wouldn't recommend...More

Old Perithia is no ghost town, however, thanks to the presence of a bed and breakfast and a handful of tavernas serving excellent mountain fare. Apart from good food, the village offers visitors a fascinating insight into Corfu’s history, jaw-dropping views, and an ideal “base...More

Until recently this village was deserted. It was originally founded as a safe place to avoid pirates. There has now been some very sympathetic restoration carried out. The several tavernas all offer traditional Corfiot (and tourist!) food. Our favourite is Foros. Well worth a visit...More

Hi, it's absolutely not possible to walk - it's a good distance away and up a very steep road. There's no buses in low season but the best place to ask is at your resort front desk as they will know what is happening much... More
