You have to lower your expectations, as what you are about to see, is only in pieces and left up to the imagination and some pictures. But at the end of the day, it is ancient history and difficult to restore.

There are 2 museums near the Olympic site. Be sure to visit both because they each offer something that the other doesn't have

Thoroughly enjoyed this museum, even though neither my husband nor I are particularly interested in sport. The displays were terrific, with lots of good information that gave a good cultural perspective of the the development of the ancient Olympics.

The history on how this place got started BC was a truly amazing story. They endured a lot to be great historians. The stores and houses where they lived. Unbelievable! Wow! A must see in Greece. We went and bought things to take home.

this is a place where all the torches were lit, that's why you can not see them anymore; this is just a starting point for their journey, that's correct.

Most are in the small museum attached to the Panathenaic Stadium located in Athens and definitely worth a visit. Many of the official art and posters located here as well.
