Rode my bike on part of the range to the South side. The roads are in great shape and the drivers...really helpful. The views around each turn got better and better. This was an experience that will be part of the bucket list.

You shouldn't ask comments for Taygetos. Taygetos is more than a think to do. It is the ultimate destination for everybody. I accede.

The drive through the Taygetus mountains is stunning with lots of hairpin bends to add interest. We stopped twice once for coffee at the top at a tavern 2,400m high then for an amazing traditional Greek lunch on the way down which was fantastic.

The road is fine over the mountain route from Sparta to Kalamata and so can be taken steadily even if you are unused to hill driving. Locals will pass when you move in as usual in Greece towards the side of the road. Excellent views...More

At mountain there is a shelter but isn't good choice. You can stay at Kalamata city that begins Taygetos
