Bouboulina’s Museum is family-owned and since opening in 1991 has been visited by over 500,000 people, who have been moved by the fascinating story of this heroine of the Greek War of Independence. We offer tours to independent travelers and we can also accept (with prior confirmation) groups of up to 100, at a time suitable to the requirements of the group itinerary. In our beautiful garden area, visitors read a brief history of Bouboulina’s life (available in 18 languages **) before entering the Mansion itself where the tour inside is then conducted in English: we are flexible regarding on the spot translating by your group leader into another language. In the grounds of the Mansion there is a three-hundred square metre pebble-mosaic courtyard, with olive trees and abundant flowers and shrubs, where we hold our Cultural Festival each summer with events such as opera, theatre, dance, children's theatres, modern song, piano and violin. Entrance to the Festival is free - any donations are used for various causes on the island.** Languages: Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Estonian, French, German, Hebrew, Hungarian, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Norwegian, Polish, Romanian, Russian, Spanish, Swedish

Must-see place in Spetses

It is a museum in which the long and important history of island is demonstrated. Rather accessible by foot, very nice inner decoration; it "transfers" you back in 1800s.

Very interesting museum if you want to find out more about spetses history and how people lived in the last century. Every day at 19.30 there is a guided tour of the museum that is worth doing.

Worth visiting as the privately-funded guiding combines both historic and social aspects in the life of Lascarina Bouboulina and the Greek Independence War in many languages.

You should (must) visit it if you find yourself in Spetses. The short guided tour, preceeded by a history lesson,* from a descendant of Bouboulina is an eye opener. It is a sad reminder that more things change, more stay the same and that the biggest enemy of Greeks has been always ourselves. We need now a modern Bouboulina to... More

Back in time, a wonderful trip back to one of the most historical personalities and entities in the recent Greek history. The house is well preserved thanks to the family that runs it as a museum. Our guide was ... the ancestor, and what was told was so vivid and moving, indeed. Each object in the house has a story... More

We had an excellent tour in English of this historic building. She was a major personality in Greece's fight against the Ottoman Turks. Lots of information about Greece in the early 1800's

Visited this fascinating museum in the centuries-old home of a heroine of the Greek War of Independence. Prepare for your visit by reading up on this truly remarkable lady (sadly unfamiliar to most people outside Greece) to appreciate her significance. Her descendants still live on the first floor of the house - our tour was conducted by her several-times great... More
