Budolfi Cathedral is placed on the highest spot in the old Aalborg between the old highstreet Algade and Gammeltorv. Its snow white facade gives the cathedral a exalted expression even though its actually the smallest of its kind i Denmark. Budolfi is named after the english munk and saint, St. Bodolfus, who lived in the 700s, and was praised as a protector of travellers. Budolfi Cathedral has always played a big part in the history of Aalborg which is shown in the crest of Aalborg, which shows three church towers, whereas one is Budolfi. The other two is the Church of Our Lady Kirke and Aalborg Abbey Church. One of the reasons why Budolfi stands out is its amazing carillon which plays every hour from 8am to 10pm. The specific music is changed during the year, making it fit the different holidays and occasions. The melodies is controlled by a computer but can also be operated manually. The carillon has exsisted since 1934 but the 48 bells present today were made by the Dutch company Petit and Fritsen in 1970. The biggest bell weighs about 1250 kilos whereas the total weight of the carillon is 16 ton.

A famous and old Cathedral in Aalborg. The best part was the old, painted ceiling, right in the entry way. We didn't spend a whole lot of time here, but it was right next to the underground ruins of an old Franciscan friary (from street level, all you can see is an elevator) we were going to visit, and it... Aalborg is a nice city to visit. Well worth visiting this cathedral in the centre of town. It nice to visit Aalborg all year round. This saturday there was a Christmas Market outside the cathedral - also worth visiting.

A very 'busy' style of architecture. Not a plain wall on the place. Near the middle of town and worth a stroll by. (I couldn't get in the afternoon I was there not sure why it was locked up but still impressive).

Worth a visit, check also how it looks inside. From here, I walked to the direction of the sea, there is another church nearby of very different style

Budolfi Domkirke is a grea church in center of Aalborg. I have really appreciated the architecture inside and the amazing natural light that you have. I suggest a visit to this church to everyone. In 20/30 minutes you will see everything, inside and outside.

Lovely building both inside and out and also has an art exhibition if you are passing worth a look inside. The clocks are attractive and the tower unusual.

It is a church that is also an art museum. It is breath taking. Also, services are held on Sundays, so if you're wanting to worship, come on in.

Aaalborg is not really a tourist haven but there are a few pleasant side streets and historic sites of which this is one. Interesting church architecture
