Overview
More
At the Steno Museum, both children and adults can go on a voyage of discovery into the fascinating development of science and medicine. You can learn about ground-breaking discoveries such as X-rays, penicillin, transistors and radio waves. Shiver at the sight of old surgical instruments and try your hand at Morse code with an electromagnetic telegraph. Or you can reflect on antenatal screening and modern body culture and ideals of beauty. In the museum's planetarium, guides take you on a tour through the stars, planets and black holes, but you can also relax in the fragrant medicinal herb garden and possibly enjoy your packed lunch. There are activities for children during the school holidays, as well as a 'full moon evening' every month in the planetarium. It all begins at Foucault's large pendulum in the foyer. Welcome to the Steno Museum!

The parts of this museum that are good are great - the medicinal garden and sections on space and history of science are fantastic. However, I would say the medical and pathological exhibitions were creepy at best and downright terrifying at worst. It may be...More

The Steno, a science museum in University Park, is superb for its size and a pleasure to visit. Perhaps the interactive exhibit that attracts the most attention is the one about pregnancy that includes a womb that small children can climb into. During school vacations...More

A really interesting science museum featuring science over the past many hundreds of years. Many things you can test or 'play' with. There is also a garden with medicinal herbs.
