Fortunately I learned of this church from a YouTube video. We exited our canal cruise and the church was a very welcome refuge from the rain. The carved pulpit is spectacular. The ship hung from the ceiling lovely. We spent more than a very peaceful...More

The church was extremely quiet and peaceful. It was a shelter from the hustle and bustle of the outside world. Inside I felt safe and calm, both spiritually and physically. With the peace and quiet came a moment of clear reflection on my travels in...More

The Holmens Kireke or Church of the Royal Navy in Copenhagen, looks like the ugly duckling on the inside but turns into a beautiful swan upon entering. Do not be fooled by its outside appearance and have a look inside. Beautiful and captivating.

From the outside, this church does not seem to offer very much, but once inside you will find an absolutely fantastic building. It is the only renaissance church in Copenhagen, built in 1562 as a naval forge and converted to a church in 1619. The...More
