The Folketinget (or the Danish Parliament) meets in Christiansborg Palace, on the islet of Slotsholmen since 1849. The the Royal Reception Rooms in the palace, the Royal Chapel and the Tower is much more worth a visit though.

The parliament buildings, or Christianborg Slot, stand close to the Holmens Kanal and are a quite impressive sight. Built in 1907 in a neo-baroque style, they house the parliament, the state apartments and the High Court. The tower, at 106 metres, is the tallest in the city. The whole complex forms an impressive sight.

I was in the city for business. I like looking at the old architecture. So I walked over here. It is in the city center and easy to walk to. I found the building to be interesting. It doesn't take a long time to look at. Pretty nice.

You must book in advance on the internet. We arrived first! They take about twenty around at a time. Security is like airport security. You have to take off your belt and leave your bags but this is fine. The staff are welcoming and friendly. We were taken up the grand stairwell and shown the main floor and the room... More

Booked an English speaking tour here - available most Sundays and worth pre-booking. Host was fantastic - extremely knowledgable about the building, the history and workings of the Parliament and the legal system in Denmark. Visited the main chamber in the Parliament plus some of the other main rooms. Plenty of clear explanations and stories. Lots of chances to ask... More

Guided tours in English are available but you have to be quick off the mark to get one of the free tickets which were available from 10.00. It was well worth the effort as we were shown round by an amusing tour guide who not only brought the place to life but willingly answered our questions. He was also able... More

Guided tours happen most days in English in the summer at 13.00 (despite what it says on the website). The tour is free and potentially good as you get to see many sights from the tv series Borgen. Our guide, however, didn't really seem to know any political or legal details and either misunderstood or mistranslated some questions.

A great little tour around parliament. The guide was very knowledgeable and fun. He told lots of little anecdotal, fun facts. Gave us some background on Danish history. Really good as free and not too long. English tour was at 1:00 get there about 10 or 11 to get ticket and then go back for 1:00.

While there were no guided tours available while we visited Christiansborg palace (where the Danish parliament resides), it was a lovely walk within the palace's courtyard and gardens.
