One of the reasons why we wanted to visit Kiruna is that the place is increasingly becoming a hub for space explorations and research. It's not possible to go through the gate but there is this interesting visitor centre, unmanned, where you can walk in...More

I was a little bit sceptical when my husband suggested to visit the Esrange Space Center but I did not regret it at all. The very road to it was beautiful with lots of reindeer grazing along the road in the snow. The visitor center...More

Unfortunately it is not open for the public and you cannot take pictures. But you can see some big antennas and cool stuff. Inside it is very nice: breathtaking views, good food and very good accommodation. Outside, if you are lucky, you can meet reindeers...More

We were nearby the area (Ice Hotel), had a rented car and thought, why not visit the place since we are just 19 minutes drive away? Too bad we could not go inside as it was Sunday and out of visiting hours.

When we contacted the Space Centre in August from Australia, we were informed that they were no longer doing public tours through their facility.
