We walked here on a beautifully cold and snowy day from the Prins Eugens Waldemarsudde Gallery which is also on Djurgarden. It was a beautiful walk and we went to the very nice but busy cafe here on our arrival to warm up. The building...More

Visiting this place is like getting a crash course in late-19th century/early 20th century art history. There's a separate room devoted to Edvard Munch as well as works by Strindberg, Zorn, Gaugin, Prince Eugen and many more...this is a place I'd like to visit again.

One of the more enjoyable things I did while in Stockholm was visiting the Thiel Gallery (Thielska Galleriet), a small art museum on Djurgården. I took a bus to the museum, which was a short walk from the stop. The museum is the former home...More

The Thiel Gallery is one of least well known museums in Stockholm which is a pity as it deserves better. The Thiel is easily reached using bus 69 from Central Stockholm and the journey is less than half an hour. The once private house is...More

This is a relatively small art-nouveau villa filled with carefully collected Nordic art, paintings (in impressionist and post-impressionist) and sculpture from late XIX early XX century. Shows excellent taste and love for art, even in furniture. Many new artist names you wouldn't see outside of...More

The Gallery shows primarily Nordic artists who worked at the turn of the 20th century. We saw some wonderful Carl Larsson, Edvard Munch, Anders Zorn (whom I really want to spend some time researching.) It's an intimate gallery in that it is possible to view...More

This is a must-visit for those who enjoy Swedish art of the late 19th, early 20th centuries: Prince Eugene, Anders Zorn, Bruno Liljefors, Carl Larsson, August Strindberg, and many of the lesser known artists of the era. And the house built to become this museum...More
