Lake Mälaren encompasses Stockholm, with being so near to the water, its so lovely to take care stroll, a boat ride to one of the Island, or just sit down at some bar and enjoy the view!

It has its charm all year round. Ice and snow or lovely breeze through leaves - enjoy it all. Boat tours, SL boat, places to walk, eat and drink... all is there. One of my favourite features of Stockholm.

We had taken the boat to and from the Drottningholmen. The journey was beautiful and the views excellent. In fact the ride itself is far better that the palace which we visited. But the 2 way journey was well worth it.

Malardrotningen Hotel /Yacht would be fun for kids, although cabins are small and you would need multiple cabins if you have more than two people in your party.
Are there inland tours on this lake and how far is it to the end of the lake ? Are there any places worth visiting along the shores inland as castles or villages ? Boat rentals ? Winter sports ?
