Great neighborhood, increasingly touristy

Not much more to say here... but do check out String Cafe for the brunch buffet and Pet Sounds bar for a drink!

A really cosy andinteresting past of the city. Lots of shops, cafe's, restaurants ranging from budget to high end. Hancrafts, ethnic shops, charity shops and of course fashion... Parks, old buildings and a mixed crowd.

If you are looking for "Stockholm cool" this is the neighborhood to find it. Lots of places for coffee, bistros and little restaurants. Many shops and small stores. Much more of a true Stockholm neighborhood than a Gamla Stan. This is where you will run in to less tourists and more of those who call Stockholm home. Great chance to... More

The “youngest” and most populated, we found plenty of coffee shops and trend along Sodermalm streets.

Check out some great sights such as the photo museum or views of the water and old town from high vantage points. Many great restaurants and bars.

Great neighborhood full of great restaurants, shopping, bars. I would recommend staying in this hood when visiting Stockholm, makes a great launching pad to discover the rest of the city.

stayed near the Medborgarplatsen station. Lots of restaurants, bars, and fika. One block from the shopping district over the hill to Slussen. Not a lot of attractions, but only two stops from Gamla Stan!. Be ready for people. between major route to downtown, nightlife, the Globen and shopping, it is a busy area. Vibrant.

From this side of Stockholm, you can have great views of the city. Lots of interesting things to know including a street named after an officer responsible for execution and witch stories.

Many places to shop, eat, and have a drink. Walk along the main drags and explore the places. At night, many places to go for drinks and see the crowd.

Complete contrast to the hustle & bustle of the city centre - has a relaxed vibe, reminded me of a mix of Chiswick, Hammersmith & the up coming trendy Shoreditch in London - nice cafes & bars

Staying in Slussen

Neighbourhood Profile
A unique mix of grotesque 1960s concrete urban vision and cosy historical Swedish brick houses, Slussen has become one of Stockholm’s most architecturally edgy and controversial neighborhoods. Plans to rebuild the area have been on the agenda for decades, however, so far no agreement could be reached, which is the reason for the continuing decay of its brutalist substance. Nevertheless, the museums and the main shopping street, Götgatan, attract both locals and tourists with Sweden’s most fashion-forward clothing retailers, hipster coffee shops and restaurants. Once the lights are out, the area turns into a bustling nightlife haven, catering to all preferences, from posh hotel bars to sweaty underground nightclubs. There is no better place to experience the clash between old and new Sweden.
