The Unesco World Heritage Skogskyrkogården is beautiful all year round,...

The Unesco World Heritage Skogskyrkogården is beautiful all year round, much due to the unique way it is woven into the landscape. The cemetery never closes, so you can easily acces the World Heritage when you prefer, throughout the year. More than 2,000 funeral ceremonies take place at the Skogskyrkogården each year. This means that the five chapels are in frequent use and therefore closed to the public. If you are interested in the chapels and their interiors, come along for a public guided tour or book a private tour. We also have audio and visitor's guides, which you can download prior to your visit. Please visit our website for more information.

Maybee I sholdn´t write this because I live close by. I think graveyards are interesting to watch in other countries, and this one is special. It is huge, calm and very nice organized. There is no special atractions for tourists, so you are on your on. I think it could be interesting also to see the surroundings of Stockholm. We call... More

Elegantly incorporated into the landscape, Skogskyrkogarden is a wonderful location worth the quick detour from the city-scape. Bring your walking shoes and pick a day with good weather; it's easy to lose track of time while wandering through the park.

At this UNESCO-designated cemetery, it's worth learning about the thoughtful design that went into it. As an example, the steps leading up a meditation hill get smaller as one progresses as an analogy to the idea that grief gets easier over time. Walking among graves nestled in the forest feels very different than a traditional cemetery.

I think is one of best place a man has been able to figure out and then create. Souls, nature and human beings share the same space. I went alone in a weekday and probably appreciated this place more because very few people were there. Is and ideal place to do meditation and reflect about your life.

This cemetery is located south of Stockholm - about 15 minutes with subway. The architecture of the cemetery is one of a kind and must be seen to be believed! Another reason to visit is that this is where the one and only Greta Garbo finally was laid to rest.

This is a fantastic cemetery, listed by Unesco as a world heritage, and it's well worth its place. One of the world's greatest movie stars of all time, Greta Garbo, is buried here.

I visited Skogskyrkogarden in early December. I've visited a number of UNESCO World Heritage Sites on previous trips but few that date only to the early 20th century. This complex was designed by architects Erik Gunnar Asplund & Sigurd Lewerentz who competed with others for this project. UNESCO cites the "Nordic landscape, unique architecture & artistic decoration" being an inspiration... More

I was amazed in the first place to see a cemetery on the list of "To do" in a city. It is indeed a very strange place to be in, let alone to visit during a trip abroad. It has a morbid and strange scent all over it.

This church yard is so much more than the name. It is a lovely placve to walk in, shaped by one of the most famous architechs in Sweden Gunnar Asplund. A place with calm. 1 of November the candlelights are overwelming.
