Sampo, the former icebreaker for the Finnish government, offers a unique cruise experience on the Gulf of Bothnia. The union of the majestic steel, ice and the sea will be unlike anything else you've ever experienced. Four hour cruises yearly from December to April. Had a morning cruise with this historic formerly state owned ice-breaker. Excellent tour in the ship, tasty breakfast and loved to watch fellow visitors enjoying the swim in icy sea. This is something you can´t compare with anything. Go for it!

This is an 100% recommendable excursion if you are around. Being on an Icebreaker with a guided tour and Information how everything works is great enough. But the possibility to swim in the ice (equipment is provided) is something you can not experience every Day.

The soup and bread provided on the boat was surprising good. Only the wet suit and gear are very dirty because everyone wearing the same wet suit and the staff don't have time to sterilize them. But it was a unique experience tho.
