Went to the cemetery today by myself. It is very peaceful and beautiful. I know they were the enemy during the war but I think all soldiers deserve respect after they have fallen. Lucky I had a GPS to find the cemetery.

The places locates on a coast side of Norvajärvi (there are 2 small fireplaces including one under the roof, as well as a place with woods and toilet near by). So it suitable and worths to come not only in order to visit a memorial...More

Visited in late January - cold but not unbearable. Well signposted start then just follow path of compressed snow - narrower track to memorial takes off to left before you get to the lake and is not sign posted. Memorials like this are always a...More

I went on a cold day with snow on the ground. It's tranquil and very poignant. If you go (and you should) it allows some time to think. After all they were just men, not monsters not evil, just blokes doing what they were told.

This is a cemetery on the water for German soldiers who died in WW2 in that region. It is tucked back in the woods about 500 meters from any parking. You will need to walk to it. It is a very simple and unmanned cemetery....More

In any season the silence gives pause to thought of time of place amidst the beautiful nature of the German soldier's cemetery by this artic lake near Rouvaniemi. Most are not aware of WWII history and the Finn's unavoidable dance with the devil in Lappland....More
