There are two leghts for Karhun kierros. We did the smaller and it is a nice day trip. The longer one is something quite different. Karhunkierros offers nice views and endless stairs up and down so this serves also as an excercise.

This is why we came to Kuusamo, to have this famous day-hike of 12 km in the beautiful nature with wonderful sceneries. It was a tough hike with all the stairs for me, a well overweight person. But it was actually not as tough as I expected; I could have walked more. And I've managed harder hikes. We took the... More

One of the most famous hiking trail in finland and not without a reason. The trail has also been noticed abroad and was said it was one of the best trail in western europe. The scenery is amazing and you could just feel the purity of the air. You could see lots of reindeers and walk with them. I will... More

The Karhunkierros Trial or the Bear´s Ring, is perhaps the most famous trekking in the Oulanka National Park located between Kuusamo and Salla. The well-marked route, crosses forests following the courses of rivers and lakes, walks the marshes over duckboards and allows you to rest in idyllic huts and shelters situated in the most beautiful places of the path. You... More

Visited this place in winter - and recommend especially that time - it is gorgeous! I hiked 12 km of the trail.

Good trip. Enjoyed the 82 km. Walked it in 4 days. Beautiful landscapes. Track was well marked, getting lost is nearly impossible. Some parts are easy and some are hard, especially the mountains. I recommend this to anyone with a basic shape. No hiking experience needed, at least this was my first time hiking and had no problems.

With a short stay in this part of Lapland during summer, we didn't really have the option of a longer one-way trail. As regular hikers, our only negative comments for this particular trail relate to the rather large numbers of other walkers, particularly near the beginning and end of the trail - resulting in queues on duck-board and stairway sections.... There is a reason why this trail has been featured in National Geographic. The vistas are spectacular. Nature is delicately preserved. The trail is not too rugged. Hiking culture here is maximal and your co-visitors are most respectful. You can choose between a short day trail or an multi-night longer trail. Winter visits are also worthwhile.

Pieni Karhunkierros trail (12 km). It's suitable for a day trip and takes you up to Kallioportti lookout point, down to Jyrävä waterfall and through nice views on hanging bridges. Spectacular views! If you have more time, the 80 km Karhunkierros trail (from Hautajärvi to Ruka village) is definetely worth taking. Karhunkierros trails are mostly in Oulanka nature park and... More

You can let go and relax in the middle of the forest and just let the hours pass as you get deeper and deeper into the photographs, amazing photographs everywhere. Landscape or macro, its amazing!
