I haave visited more or less all ski resorts in Finland and Ruka is by far the best. Lot of things to do for all ages.

Beautiful landscape, fresh snow every day, with kind and friendly locals and natives to help a foreigner learn how to ski. I say scrap the French/Swiss/Italian resorts, and go here, as less crowded, and far nicer. Food delicious, drinks continuous, and smiles and laughter everywhere.
What a god forsaken mess this place is. The absolute worst excesses of ski infrastructure with no thought whatsoever for how it might look and feel. After 3 hours in minus 10 falling in the ice because a ludicrously overpriced unfriendly and sterile restaurant won't...More
