I'd say if you are wanting any kind of food or craft or souvenir, you must visit this market. It's crowded with tourists and locals and is close to Senate Square and the Old Market Hall, as well as various tourist boats. Come and bring...More

Like most outdoor markets you can expect fresh fruits and vegetables this place also has souvenirs, crafts, reindeer furs, and food. You must try the creamy salmon soup. The fruits were 6-8€ per litre but looked fresh as one man was picking out the bad...More

I have not seen such an amalgamation of beautiful stuff ever before. Wonderful stalls, lovely items both perishable and no perishable, clothes, coffee, drinks, and what not. I found few of the stuffs a little expensive but they were really worth the price that the...More

The Hamanirmi market is awesome! Starting from 8ish in the morning, it runs till 3-4ish in the afternoon. You can get fresh fruits, food, Finnish artifacts, souvenirs, and all here! I personally recommend the local scarf shop for Finnish moose scarfs. You won't miss the...More

Outdoor market has become smaller during the years but still offers nice farmhouse like products. The indoor market hall offers good selection of all kinds of food, handicraft and cafes. Definitely a place to visit!

We were there on a beautiful Sunday morning in June and the place was popping. Try some of the "little fish" from the vendors. They are fried and tasty! It's a great place to pick up tee-shirts for a reasonable price. There were several vendors...More

The Hakaniemi market is the place in Helsinki, where one must definitely visit. This is a real market, where you can buy fresh products of the highest quality! If I lived permanently in Helsinki, I would buy food only here! Every time I go to...More

This is an honestly the best place you would want to go to find authentic Finnish goods and should not be missed. It's also right next to the piers where the fishermen are selling their fish fresh off the boat. It's a bit expensive probably...More

Centrally located near the old harbor and ferry piers, Hakaniemi Market sells all manner of Finnish food, especially fish. Lots of souvenir stalls as well. It is always interesting to stroll through the stalls during a visit to Helsinki which is exactly what we did...More

Arrived late and wanted to walk around and stretch our legs after a three and half hour train ride from Russia. Very near our hotel and right by the piers for the ferries. Came late so a few of them were packing up for the...More

The tram stop is is called "Hakaniemi", right next to the square. Trams 1, 1A, 3, 6, 7A, 7B, and 9. There are also buses and a stop of the metro line.
This is more like giving information. This is NOT the famous square near the harbour, which is in the middle of loads of attractions. Hakaniemi is a metro ride away from the centre and has just 10 stalls (one day a month, it has maybe 40 for the farmers's market). The famous Market Square is called Kauppatori and this is how it is listed on TA. Please don't visit the wrong place or, having visited the harbour market, then review it here. You have to review it under the Kauppatori listing.

Hello, I am interested in visiting the market when I am in Helsinki in July. As a tourist, could someone please suggest how much time to allow for a visit? Any comments on shopping for souvenirs/handicrafts at the market or nearby are welcome. Is the market close or convenient to other sites that are highly recommended? Thank you.

market has about 10 stalls and that is that. You need to go to the Kauppatori Market, not this one. On the other hand, the Market Hall at Hakaniemi is better (cheaper and better quality goods and stalls) than the Vanha... More
