A very interesting and historic place to visit. Despite the cold, snow and ice we had a great couple of hours wandering around and looking at the old buildings. Sadly many sites are closed, including the submarine, during winter, but we still had a great time. Put it on your list of sites to visit.

Although some attractions were closed, it being winter, this was a very interesting place. The ferry ride is short, there are good maps, and it made for an interesting walk around time.

It is an amazing place to watch the landscape around Helsinki, both in winter and summertime. It is also good for a walk and as a picnic place.

Neat place to visit, but a bit tricky during the winter with snow and ice. Nice museums, neat places to look around.

Nice place for outdoor activities. Quite peaceful place with an exciting history. About a 10 minute ferry from the Helsinki port. There is also food shop and restaurants. Sunny days lots of people. Many of the museums on the island are closed during winter.

An interesting island steeped in history and easily accessible from the port near Market Square, this attraction is a must for anyone visting Helsinki. A half day is enough if you have limited time, but a full day makes for a more leisurely stroll around the various sites. Pick up a free map from the tourist info office, follow the... More

A short boat ride in Baltics and a wonderful place to walk around. Wonderful monuments to see, enjoy and a great feeling of fresh air from the sea. Great coffee joints and a wonderful place to have a relaxed day with the family! Just need to be prepared to have long walks and pace the same gradually! Definitely not a... More

This is a must do whilst in Helsinki. The ferry takes around 20 miNs and tickets are 5€ each. You can spend the day walking around the island taking is the beauty of it. There are various different museums to see also and spectacular views.

Getting there by ferry is just as much fun as the site itself! The Museum detailing the history is very informative, well worth watching the film too!

Hi! Thank you for your review! Yes we agree the ferry ride is very nice, specially during the winter time. It is fun to watch when the ferry breaks the ice. The film is also very interesting at the Suomelinna museum. It gives you very good information about Suomenlinna´s history. You can also choose the language for the film. Hope... More
