This museum provides a nice exhibition of old and ancient ways and lives and objects of finnish people. It is tidy and nicely put. There is also some temporary exhibition going on and you can attend all places with the same ticket. Cafe did not have much to offer out of lunch time and I did not like the bored... More

The museum is of some interest to persons who want to learn more about Finland and its history. I did not get bored during my 3 hour visit a while ago.

My wife and I spent about two hours here. There is a special exhibition of Italian renaissance painting, about 45 in all, that is quite interesting. Took about one hour to see, can be done quicker of course. Well laid out, large rooms, good lighting. Then we toured the permanent display featuring aspects of Finnish life. Well done and very... If you are interested in Finnish history and the old culture, this is the perfect place to visit! There are so many interesting old items in the staying exhibitions. The rooms and moving directions can be pretty confusing at first, but when you check the map (everyone gets one), you'll find the right way. The staff is also very friendly and... More

I'm not sure why we didn't take to this museum, probably because we had done the walking tour, and been to HAM..kinda OD-d on history and culture (which can happen - anyone ever hear of temple fatigue?!). This isn't an impressive museum, nowhere to sit down while you're walking around and the lighting is quite dim and the layout isn't... More

Unfortunately I completely ran out of time to give this museum the time it needed. I had 45mins to get around!!! Firstly, I was super sad that most of the exterior was covered in scaffolding as Id heard this was a stunning building to see. But, obviously, renovations and cleaning and maintenance must be done. So I guess I will... More

The museum is set out chronologically with items from Stone Age to present day. We liked the national dress and one particular clock best. It is walkable from the city centre.

This place is a storehouse of all things Finnish, as you would expect. Its galleries focus on categories of material culture as well as integrated presentations of certain aspects of Finnish life. We enjoyed every bit of it. Good interpretation, fine exhibition techniques, and clean well-kept galleries.

The building itself is a magnificent example of Finnish romantic nationalism, but the exhibits are way too traditional and, to say it straight, even boring. Too many objects without proper explanation (for example, "a ring from the 15th century" is not enough - it would be nice to know who used such rings, how expensive they were etc.), repetitive displays... An attractive, pleasant building easy for poor walker to get around, with stairs, but also elevators. The place has a hodgepodge of exhibits, in nice old-fashioned displays that are easy to like. The cafeteria is lovely, their prices quite reasonable. While we were there they had an exhibition of Renaissance paintings from a small museum in N. Italy. It was... More
