It was closed, tower and stadium for construction, but as other suggest it has interesting history. When WWII broke out he 1940 Olympics were canceled because the NAzis were invading this part of the world. It did host the 1952 olympics, during the cold war.

If you are not into sports, then visit the Botanical Gardens nearby instead of the stadium. However, if you do decide to visit the stadium, then a piece of advice: read some of its hidtory before the visit.

This stadium was famous for being the site of the Helsinki Olympics game. A lot of history is attached to this place. It is fairly big with a holding of around 40000 spectators today. I did not get much impressed with this place.

Not such a great spot for a photo stop with all the construction now, but at least look for the high tower.

Went on SBP tour Highlights of Helsinki, the Olympic stadium was unremarkable from the outside. I would not reccommend SBP tours for Helsinki.

We made the half-hour walk from the city centre to visit the Olympic Stadium, only to find it surrounded by boarding, and closed for comprehensive reconstruction. We found one construction worker who told us that this work had begun earlier this year, and that it...More

Hello. The Helsinki Olympic Stadium is closed for the whole year 2017 because of the huge renovation. Unfortunately visitors can see the stadium only outside behind the fences.
