It is a pretty building and a well functioning railway station. Bought tickets, had all my questions answered and they had clean restrooms. Their waiting area is clean and bright. The restaurant and coffee shops inviting. Had to catch a train from that station more than once and had my first impression validated.

We were not travelling by train anywhere....we were just out and about in the centre of Helsinki where we visited for a two day stopover before heading further north....when we came across this MAGNIFICENT building! Actually, it's a bit difficult to miss and definitely difficult to avoid being drawn in....if you enjoy architecture at all! It was as impressive inside... More

This is a beautiful if somewhat neglected building but impressive all the same. Definitely worth taking its photo!

This is the most important Railway Station in Finland. From here you can go everywhere in Finland by train or by metro within Helsinki. The station is almost crowded with people, but I avoid being there around midnight, it isn’t so safe there then. Helsinki Central railway station is a widely recognized landmark in central Helsinki, Finland. The station is... More

Beautiful art deco building and a bonafide attraction on its own. Right in the middle of the city. Do visit.

On the scale of impressive railway stations, this has little on offer. When compared to some of the world's best, such as New Yorks Grand Central Station, this station is simply underwhelming. Further, hold on to your bags, wallets and watches, as gangs of various ethnicity roam the area looking for vulnerable tourist.

The interior is as beautiful as the exterior. Although I haven't used it for transport - just to take pictures of the architecture.

Much of central Helsinki can easily be seen with a few hours' walk. The train station makes a good place to stroll into, e.g. to use the restroom. Other than that... it's a train station. Looked like there are a number of eateries that would be convenient on either end of a train journey, but I didn't sample any of... More
