Even when you are on vacation, you deserve a quiet day - or just a few hours - to recuperate from "Gottaseethis" syndrome. If you're in Helsinki on a sunny summer day, like I found myself on June 28, and just want to chill - alone, as a couple, or with kids - head to Hietarannan! Grab a couple of... More

I don't know why the Hietaranta beach is so much overhyped. We went there on a sunny, hot day in July and it was just overcrowded with people. The location is perfect, very close to the city centre and easy to access with public transportation, but that's it. When I was swimming I was sort of 'obstructed' by green algae... More

The Hietsu best beach near the city centrum. When we are lucky and get the sun shine this is the very famous beach for younger generation.

Went on a nice sunny day, but as it had not been a hot summer the water was still a bit cold, but a great beach just to relax and read a book while soaking in some vitamin D. There is a nice atmosphere on this beach, with some activities like beach volley ball etc being arranged. There is also... More

Spent a few hours here while out sightseeing. Very relaxing stop despite the crowds (on the beach, few in the water). It was nice that there are lockers and showers available (bring a few coins), so it was easy to change in and out of beach attire partway though my day. Looks like many people drove but it was easy... More

Hietaranta (or Hietaniemi) is popular and famous beach that is also comfortable during autumn time. We visited there during the last weekend and it was perfect for our outdoor activities. Beach area is very large and a lot of people are visiting there. Location is excellent and it is easy to reach by walk or car.

One of the largest of Helsinki's beaches with a pleasant beach cafe and bar, changing rooms and toilets. It's possible to walk along the beach as far as the Sibelius Monument, a very nice walk.

We visited the beach via the cemetery and had a lovely stroll along the sandy shores before having a quick dip in the sea. Clean fresh water and wonderful views.

If you're from a country with lots of long, open sandy beaches with crystal clear water, this will probably be an odd place for you. But this is a wonderful sandy beach very close to the Helsinki city center. As beaches in the Nordic countries go, it's great. There's decent toilets, nice view, a place to get snacks and some... since many people seem to love it. Just write me off as an Australian who is extraordinarily spoiled when it comes to beaches! I visited this beach because it was listed by LP as one of Helsinki's best. It was flat, stagnant, dirty and shallow as a duckpond and did not feel like a beach at all (Yes, I know,... More
