The Suomenlinna Toy Museum presents old toys, the oldest of which go back to the beginning of the 19th century. The newest toys are from the 1960’s. The private collection features hundreds of old dolls, approximately one hundred historic teddy bears, and other toys full of history. The toys of the collection are from Finland and thus reflect the Finnish culture and game tradition. Of great interest are for example the toys and games of wartime

The museum is in a cute old building and has a few rooms crammed with dolls and other toys. Take one of the guidebooks and you'll find a wealth of information about the historical toys and see that they've done a lot of work. Add to this a nice cafe with proper espresso and seaviews.

We had seen this place online and decided to check it out being interested in old toys. The museum was larger than expected and well set out with plenty of information about the exhibits. We stopped for a snack lunch too and sat outside looking at the water. Owner was very friendly and food delicious. Well worth a visit.

Even though this museum is just a couple of rooms, there is so much to see. Showcases full of vintage toys and a detailed information book with highlights from the collection. Totally recommend to all even those who are not so young at heart.

The owner has collected a beautiful and interesting set of all sorts of toys. The museum is located in Suomenlinna which you can reach by a ferry at the Central Market Square. The building is wooden surrounded by a small garden. You can enjoy coffee and tea and some bakery products there as well

The Toy Museum and Cafe Samovarbar is located off the main tourist trail. But for a great coffee and some amazing cakes go and find it. It's decor is different (dolls, toys and samovars) but it is tasteful. But get yourself a cake or two.

My mum would have loved it. A lot of very valuable old toys, many dolls. Was hoping to see some Moomin history but alas.

Thank you for your review. What do you mean by saying you didn't see moomin history here..? We have the oldest finnish made Moomins from 1950's in Suomenlinna Toy Museum (dolls, ceramics, glossy pictures), and also an explanation of the history about the Moomins in our guidebook. In our Museum Shop you can buy postcards and posters about Moomins, which... More

The toy museum itself is interesting, but the whole point of visiting this corner of the vast Suomenlinna Fortress Island is the lovely cafe attached to the museum! The atmosphere in the cafe is absolutely lovely, not to mention the sunny garden and home-made ice tea - and the home-made Finnish sweet buns (korvapuusti), probably the best in the whole... More
