Would not highly recommend this area unless you're spending time at the nearby Design Museum. The design shops are a good number but spread far apart. Good records shops around though.

Helsinki is the center of Finnish design, so I really wanted to have a look at the shops. I found the Finnish design beautiful and timeless, but also very expensive. Even so I managed to buy some lovely home decorations for less then € 10. I liked the Punavuori neighbourhood, more or less the heart of the design district. it... More

We knew about the design district before our trip and headed there right from our bus. While there are plenty of design houses and design businesses, many with window displays, the retail aspect was weak. Retail is quite spread out and underwhelming. There's a lot of walking and the few places we went were also very expensive. We soon moved... More

In the Design District is also the Design Museum and the Museum of Finnish Architecture. Visit and get a deeper view of Finnish design and architecture over the years.Located just south of the centre, it stretches across 25 streets and includes more than 100 points of interest, from shops and galleries to design studios and hotels. Look up a map... More

Different types of shops are clustered in different areas, so be sure to check a design district map before you head out. The Finns have a great colourful scandi design aesthetic that I would highly recommend!

This is a lovely area to walk through and view different aspects of design - from clothes to jewellery to kitchen gadgets, you will find it all here! A word of warning though - beautiful goods but it's a very expensive area in which to shop!

Spending a weekend in Helsinki, my girl friend and I were looking forward to visit the much touted design district. To be honest, we were disappointed. Although a very handy map was provided by the hotel, the various stores are very scattered over a fairly large number of locations and the venues are not perceived to be part of a... More

Apart from the shops' location that maybe a little bit scattered, this is an area where you can get inspirations especially if you're not a professional designer like me. There are many interesting shapes and colours in the design. I spent few hours and walked in several shops here, and I really enjoyed it. I even asked the staff at... More

Like no where you have been, each shop is a museum and work of art. Each shop sells some unique design product and makes you want to buy everything. A mist see on a trip to Helisnki.

As part of Helsinki Design Week 2015 this gets an 8/10. The Design District fold away may is excellent with a more than useful index and notes. I just did not get the tie-in between the Design Week and the rest. The actual information on how to get around is more or less missing I suggest the hop-on hop-off bus... More
