Great dioramas

About a dozen well done dioramas showing Finnish wildlife. We spent about half an hour, reasonable considering the low entry fee. The signs are in Finnish and Swedish but they... read more

My kids enjoyed the displays of taxidermied animals in mock-ups of their natural habitats. I enjoyed them enjoying those displays, and I also enjoyed knowing that the displays were over 100 years old (most of the exhibits have not changed since 1907). If you look at it that way (as an adult), it's a lot more interesting. Otherwise, this is... More

This is a small place and well worth of visit with kids. Admission is modest and you'll get interesting animal scenes to see. Old wooden house hosts very nice Finnish landscape scenes which have lot of real animals in their natural environment. Scenes are well made and there is lot to see in each window. Also information leaflets are good... More

This place is very tiny with what I think are taxidermy animals. The building itself seems very historic and is very dark inside. However it does focus on Finnish wildlife which is nice. You can look at everything in the building in about 10 minutes and that is if you take your time.

An interesting museum, not as much for its informative value but for the curious old fashioned display in an astonishing old building. The museum shop is virtually nonexistent and the place is a bit seedy, but the museum is easy to reach. It does have a certain atmosphere in it, and is worth visiting if you are interested in Finnish... More

About a dozen well done dioramas showing Finnish wildlife. We spent about half an hour, reasonable considering the low entry fee. The signs are in Finnish and Swedish but they will loan you a handout in other languages. The building is not well marked so trust your map.

A very small museum located in a very old, beautiful finnish art nouveau building next to a huge park. It's built up like a circle of typical Finnish nature scenes. When I was there they also exhibited butterflies, insects and mummified cats - nice! I like this museum, it's a forgotten spot and it's a shame they want to close... More
