This museum has a geographical overview of the history of the characteristic features of the area, if that is in your interest this is worth a visit. Also cool coin collection, and a display of the controversial "wolf cave" site as well.

We thought it was worth the fee of 7 euro per adult. The basement is like a natural sciences museum, great for kids. The ground floor is filled with historic items and focuses on the history of Vaasa. Plenty to see on those two floors...More

This museum is definitely worth several hours. I especially enjoyed the history of life in Vaasa, and I was surprised by how interesting the coin collection is. The art, silver and porcelain collections were interesting, but I preferred looking at the furniture. Don't miss the...More

It's fantastic on the geology and geography of the region — downstairs is the spot. The upstairs art, furniture, etc. collection is mostly forgettable. A few nice pieces, but nothing you'd specifically visit for.

This museum is very varied with something for everyone. We learnt about the geology of the Kvarken Archipelago, flora and fauna, old Finnish interiors, costume, art, rugs....... A good place to go on a wet day when you don't want to be outside.
