This is a very imposing church that sits on top of a hill, overlooking most of Akureyri. The architecture is very good, and the history behind it all very impressive. This is one of the landmarks of the city. Is a must-see.

This church is very impressive situated on an elevated position right next to Hotel Kea. Wonderful views of the town and scenery. I had the good fortune to visit whilst the organist was playing so it added to the experience. Beautiful colourful stained glass windows...More

Set high above the town with great views of the fjord and mountains around. Interesting inside with a tale, now proven incorrect, of medieval windows retrieved from the original Coventry Cathedral.

Designed by the same architect as the church in Reykjavik, this church stands on a hill in the centre of Akureyri. Lovely to photograph and I took several photos at all times of day. Lots of steps down to the town.

110 steps to get to the front door where a beautiful view of the village can be seen. Ultra modern church made of concrete (less is more is always "très tendance").

It's fun to race your kid up the stairs leading to the church and slide down on the rails. The church is beautiful and scenery for nice pictures. The view is also really nice.

Overview of the city and the fjord. On top of a hill, this church is similar to the one in Reykjavik and dominates the panorama of the city.

Climb the baeautifully landscaped stairs and enjoy the view from this church across the town, mountains and lakes. Located in the city center where parking is by permit which you get for free from nearby banks.

Walking up the stairs to the top was beautiful but tiring. But those dreamy sky, colors and gorgeous flowers beds compensated for it. It a great church as designed by the same architect as Hallgrimskirkja. The view from the top was amazing. Don't miss it...More

We were a little disappointed that a funeral service meant that we could not see the inside. Perhaps the trolls on nearby street, Hafnarstræti, compensated.
