We had a lovely time riding these beautiful horses!! Didn't want it to end. Definitely go in the 'medium' group as this was a lot of fun.

Our last day in Iceland for Spring Break we decided to go horseback riding across the lava fields. As we hv ridden before we asked for the intermediate group and then got bumped up to the advanced group so we could do more speed runs and try out different gaits, the horses were fully- grown Icelandic horses, but looked like... Tours are fairly expensive but then again all activities in Iceland are expensive! I did the nature comfort tour and it was really really fun, beautiful placid horses and no reason to be nervous.

Firstly the Ishestar were brilliant in sorting out my mistake with the pickup location. They phoned me, worked out where I was and directed the driver to us, so a great service in this respect. We did the 2 hour Lava Tour on the morning before our afternoon flight home, so were able to make the most of our day... More

Would definitely recommend this stables. Highly organised and horses are an absolute delight. We were picked up on time from our hotel and taken to large stables just outside Hafnarfjordur. Wonderful countryside in the lava fields. The horses are brilliant, kind and gentle, well trained and very affectionate. You have everything you need for an easy ride, boots, hats, warm... More

I highly recommend this stable to anyone wanting to ride Icelandic horses. The staff was professional, the horses were well behaved and the trails we rode were beautiful. We had a few issues with pick up services in Reykjavik, but this stable provided transportation without any glitches. They also divide the groups into riding expierience and the type of ride... We arrived the day after a record snowfall in Reykjavik so we had a group of 40 rather than 20. They also had some difficulties with the pre-ride safety video. However, despite the weather trying to ruin the professionalism and preparedness of Ishestar, they were great. Very thorough and attentive. Take advantage of all the riding equipment and warm weather... More

The Viking Tour was exceptional, but only recommended for those who has a little horse riding training before, because the tour is much longer than the Viking Express Tour, and you need to run with your horse (at least sometimes) to enjoy the mountains in time. Piera was our guide for the Viking Tour, and she enjoys telling you more... More

Good selection of horses and very well behaved and calm. The ride was between 1.5-2 hours. There were a lot of people so kinda overcrowded. The tour were split into two groups, one was for more experienced rider the other less. I did not know that the slower group ended up to be the slowest ride, we literally rode the... More

I visited Iceland in May with my 13 yr old daughter and her friend. There was a mix up with the tour we originally booked, so we were quite happy when Ishestar was able to take us on short notice. We picked what was supposed to be a beginner trail as I have only ridden a couple times and my... More
