Icelandic Mountain Guides is Iceland's premier adventure tour operator. For over 20 years we have been in continuous operation of offering adventures in the wilderness of Iceland and Greenland. The company was established in 1994 by four young mountain and outdoor enthusiasts and pioneers whose aim was to introduce the wonders of Icelandic nature to travelers from all over the world. We started by offering Glacier Walks in Skaftafell and later on Solheimajokull. Hiking, backpacking and other adventures and expeditions in Iceland and Greenland soon followed. Today Icelandic Mountain Guides is a company that offers adventure tours ranging from short day tours to longer multi-day expeditions in the great outdoors in both summer and winter. So whether it is the exploration of the icescapes of glaciers, crossing of impressive highlands, trekking in the extraordinary rhyolite massifs or hiking in fascinating valleys, our aim is to Make Every Moment an Experience.

I actually didn't imagine what kinda activity that I'll be doing that day because once we've started a little climb I was just like "What am I doing in here?!" because I'm having a little issue with heights. But it turned out that this glacier walk was great. A little bit relieve because we're not in a very big group... More

Have you ever walked on a glacier? It is an absolutely unreal experience. When traveling around the south coast of Iceland, make sure to do a tour of Svínafellsjökull glacier in Skaftafell. We recommend touring with Icelandic Mountain Guides. They are the best and make the experience extremely safe, fun, and memorable! Mike was our tour guide and he was... More

Absolutely an amazing day driving out and hiking on the glacier. Our your guide Timothy was amazing. Very knowledgeable and informative. Definitely recommend this outfit. This was by far the highlight of our trip and I would highly recommend this memorable experience.

Our wonderful guide, Elizabeth, kitted us out with crampons and ice axes and off we went on our glacier walk. She saw it getting crowded in the main area so she took us on a detour away from the crowds and found a beautiful and challenging ice wall where we could try out ice climbing- not easy! There is nothing... More

Rob and I booked the walk through ice and fire. We had a fantastic time. The walks weren't too strenuous, yet just about the right length to see amazing landscapes and learn about hot springs and glacier movements. Our guide, Gìsli, was knowledgable, friendly and patient. We learned a lot from him about the nature phenomenons in Iceland and the... More

South Shore, Glacier Walk and Ice Climbing was my favorite day of my trip to Iceland. The climbing was challenging, but such a great experience. Once we got used to the crampons, the walking on the glacier was fun. The views were amazing. So glad we did this one.

What can I say as the title says it all! This was the best day ever! It was what I came here to do. I came here to climb a glacier and I did that and so much more. Our guides were fantastic and helpful. Our guides were Tomas and I know his name starts with P but I can't... More

This tour was so much fun. It was probably one of our very favorite things of the entire trip. We got to visit a tomato farm, dairy farm, waterfall, geyser, geothermal spa, and a nice dinner. We really enjoyed our tour guide (I believe people called him Thor or Poggy maybe? I hope I didn't get that wrong). He was... More

We did the 3h IMG12 Solheimajokull glacier hike in late December. One tip: they offer the tour at 10.00, 12.00 and 14.00 - in winter you only get a few hours of daylight, so we chose the 12.00 hike as this would ensure the entire hike is when it is light and bright. People starting the 14.00 hike after us... More

Thanks for sharing tips and recommendations based off of your experience, TashfromMelb. It sounds like you had a great glacier walk with us on Sólheimajökull. The weather is quite unpredictable in Iceland and we are glad that you had good weather during the tour. All the best, Jewells Icelandic Mountain Guides More
