Spread over 2 floors it concentrates on Icelandic artists. Not really suitable for young children as some of the films can be a bit disturbing.

The Reykjavik Art Museum (not to be confused with the National Gallery) has 3 locations. This is Hafnarhús (Harbor House) in the old town. It has changing exhibits so if you go to see something cool in the photos on this site, like Erró, you...More

Loved the exhibitions upstairs, which reflect the Icelandic way to live with nature. Staff is very nice and welcoming.

There was a really good video interactive display in the lower section of the gallery. Good to see some Icelandic artwork. A bit expensive visit for the size of the gallery and the staff were rather distant.

The galleries were mostly simple and barren. The art was only modern and not very appealing. While the building is large, there are relatively very few pieces inside. Good if you are an art aficionado, but not good for someone wanting to learn about Icelandic...More
