We decided not to go to many museums as the weather been nice, but we are happy we made the decision to go here. The place is great, and close to downtown. They did a great job with the layout and even if I am not as big of an art buff like my friends, it was fun to see... More

On a rainy day, we found our way here and it was really worth it. Beautiful art - many Icelandic artists were educated in Denmark. Examples from early times to contemporary. We enjoyed this exhibit in the main museum, and the tickets get you into all 3. (We didn't have time to go to the other 2).

Great pictures by the Icelandic artist Erro. I thoroughly enjoyed the unique art in this gallery. The staff were friendly and helpful. If you only have time for one museum and gallery this is the one I would recommend.

Four of us found the first four exhibits not to our taste (the videos in 2 were really quite unpleasant) but the final two were terrific.

Admittedly, a museum can be hit or miss depending on whether you like the current exhibition. We happened to get lucky and enjoyed all the works on display at the time of our visit. Make sure to visit the museum's website ahead of time to get a preview. One thing that is consistent is the wonderfully designed building and the... More

There are some interesting video and paintings but the museum is very small. I had my fill after about 45 minutes at most.

I thought this was the main Iceland art museum. That one is called national gallery of art if you are looking for more history of Icelandic artists. This place was more contemporary art. About $15 p/p to get in. And includes entrance to two other building within 24 hours. Kind of small.

An interesting gallery, when we visited (Dec 16) all rooms were open and had exhibits in place, although in the spirit of "art that makes you think/discuss" one of the exhibits was definitely of the form "what the h**l was that all about" and "how can that be called art", I did not like all the exhibits but that is... For it's size I expected a bit more - only took me about 30 minutes to go through the whole museum. Vey moder exhibition, not a lot of art. The museums are pricey, due to schedule issues I was unable to purchase a city pass so had to pay full price. Still glad I visited

when we were there, the exhibits were well curated and the Art Museum itself is both small and intense.
