Gotta is a fantastic place to head to, especially to see the northern lights. Some form of transport necessary. Good during the day for a wander as well.

Even though September is kind of early for the Northern Lights, we were able to see a faint display. The area is pitch dark at night, so assuming weather conditions suffice, makes it the perfect location for seeing the Northern Lights. It’s about a 10-15...More

I was so excited to find this place. It is just outside of Reykjavik- maybe like 10 minutes from Hallgrimskirkja. We saw the Northern Lights here and it was absolutely priceless. Need I say more.

Have to have a car to drive here, beautiful spot and nice small beach walk. This is the spot to view the Northern Lights and it is a zoo at night. Hundreds of cars with no place to park, traffic jams, pick another spot to...More

This is a good place for impressive vistas on a good weather day. The weather changes quickly here, so we went out when it was cloudy, but by the time we arrived we had blue skies and impressive clouds and seascape. it is an easy...More

I did not actually go inside, I took a long ran on the pathway alongside the bay passing it twice. It's in an uncrowded location just outside to town. A great location to "get away" soak in the views and nature. Breath.......

Nice view but if you have limited time to see Iceland this is not a necessary stop while you stay in Reykavik

Far enough outside the city and away from bright lights. Decent amount of parking if you have a rental car or not a long cab ride if you don't.

It is a bit far from downtown but worth the drive or bus ride. It was supposed to be closed until July 15th, but upon my visit in late July, it was still closed off. There is a rock path to the lighthouse that people...More

Sunset is between 8 and 9 pm and you will have the sun behind the lighthouse on the sea (perfect photo opportunity). Sunrise is between 5 and 6 am.

Lots of birds returning in mid to late March. There was a tide chart posted on the estuary when I was there.

Upps, I am so very sorry, just saw your question. Honestly, I have no clue as we were there at midnight to chase the Northern Lights. Kind regards. Marina
