The tourist info center had multiple companies available to speak with and plenty of information. I would definitely stop here first if you don't have a planned itinerary.

Very central, easy to find, helpful english speaking staff, ticket queuing system works well. Gave advice and booked service there and then - lower than cost found on internet. Free WiFi available - as it is almost everywhere in Iceland.

Very informative staff and beautiful building on the edge of the lake with loads of birds. Even better if weathers bad you can sit inside & watch the world go by

What a great building, inside and out. Fantastic walkway over water from one end and massive model of Iceland inside. Tourist staff really helpful and got us booked on to tours very easily in no time.

Yes, you can go to the restaurant and shop but I wouldn't bother. I'd take the free walking tour of Reykjavik or visit Harpa.
