The place is nothing special, but it has a nice pond and a walk path around. Might be a good "detour" on the way to Laugavegur street.

I know it seems a weird thing to say but go here you will be surprised. There is an excellent 3d map of Iceland showing everything. You will be impressed. Located by the lake in the city centre. Easy to find.

It is worth a visit to City Hall, as they have a dimensional map of Iceland which shows the topography of the entire country.

We came here specifically to see the 3D map of Iceland and it was really cool. Reykjavik was our last stop after driving along the south coast and back again, so it was really interesting to put the places we had been into context. It is not something you are likely to want to spend a long time looking at... More

The city hall is located in a lovely area. Even if you do not go in the building there are benches outside and you can sit and enjoy the ducks swimming by or feed them. Lots of tourists spend a lot of time here just enjoying the view and the lovely city hall building.

It is a very modern building, open to the public and offering some very interesting facts about the country and its political structure - very nice views of a big pond with swams and ducks.

The (free) City Walk Tour ends at the topographical map of Iceland inside City Hall. The map is pretty interesting, and they have very clean toilets in the building.

This place had rows and rows of Iceland travel guides all for free on a large range of topics! Plus there is a huge map of Iceland inside that is even three-dimensional, showing all of the mountains.

This was nice quiet end of the day place for us. We walked through the City Hall where we picked up lots of info booklets and brochures. The pond nearby is a good place to watch ducks and swans.
