I had bought the Reykjavik City Card and neglected to research when museums were open. They are almost all closed on Monday and I wanted to get my money’s worth so I trekked across town to the zoo. First this is not want Americans would think of when they hear the word "zoo". It was more like a park that... More

The park was very well kept with some good things for the children, not sure I would call it a zoo - not as we know a zoo but was nice to walk round

We brought our 4 year old and 2 year old here after picnicing in the park. They loved the play structures, lookout tower, and the hyrdaulic excavators! They also enjoyed the seals and arctic fox. Kids 4 and under are free, and this was definitely worth the price we paid for the two adults - the kids could have stayed... More

Fortunately I'd read reviews for this zoo so wasn't expecting much, just needed somewhere close to the hotel to kill time on our last day. More of a petting farm than a zoo but they do seals and a small tropical house. Having seen a mink running around near the harbour two days before (mink are not native to Iceland)... More

I actually enjoyed this zoo far more than I thought I was going to. We were already aware of the fact that it was mostly farm animals, so I wasn't expecting much. However, I enjoyed myself immensely. Because it was the winter when we visited, most of the animals were in the houses. However, we enjoyed petting the cows and... More

We spent a few hours in this little zoo and enjoyed our time there. The animals are well looked after and the staff friendly and informative. The rides were shut for the winter which wasn't an issue for us as our 3 year old doesn't like them anyway and she had a lot of fun in the park area. Entry... More

We visited in winter to simply pass a morning while waiting for our flight but this can be a hidden gem: Don't expect a full on zoo experience as there are no lions, tigers etc. But the animals seem well looked after. The beauty of this place though is the family fun area. There is lots for small children to... More

If you are travelling with children aged 1-12 yrs, this park is a good one for playing and seeing some animals. It is a mixture of animal park and amusement park and you can spend many hours walking around and letting the children play and try out some rides, but beware that you do have to pay extra tickets for... We visited in January with young children, the rides were all closed - even the very small ones which was a bit surprising. The animals were well kept and our children enjoyed seeing the horses and the seals. The park was good fun although heavily covered in snow, the diggers were also out of action for the winter. I think... More

It isn't massively clear how to get into the zoo but once in there is a variety to see. It's dirt cheap to get in on Iceland terms and you get what you pay for. All the animals are friendly and you can easily touch them and take photos. It's not massive but there's rides also to take kids on.... More
