I visited this fantastic museum for the first time in May 2016 and I was not disappointed. Over the years I have seen different set ups in various places at showing the natural history of a place and this one is the best I have seen yet with the wide spectrum of all the different exhibits that they have gathered... Housed in Palazzo Vilhena, a Baroque palace rebuilt in 1726 by Grand Master Antonio Manoel de Vilhena, the National Natural History Museum is worth a quick visit. It has some good exhibits as seen in some of the photos here. The museum is included in the Heritage Malta Multisite Pass.

Kids enjoyed it a lot. Skeletons of fish, dinosours. Its quite a big museum but its airy and filled with natural light. Took us about 1 hr 30 mins, but the children were hooked.

It is not so special, but you can see local animals, bugs and plants of Malta. It is okay for spending half an hour.

Got a ticket here as part of a deal with 3 other attractions so it was good value. It is quite an old fashioned sort of museum, but was just what I expected from a natural history museum. They have some lovely collections; I particularly liked the shells, the birds and the skeletons. And I see they are adding an... More

Myself, partner and 10 year old son visited today. We were dropped off in Mdina just before 9am, so the fact that this was the only attraction open at 9 was a bonus as we didn't have to wait to get it. It was reasonably priced too. There was a fair amount to see over the floors, but the collection... More

No need to waste time here. The displays are full of dirty and displayed in an amateur way. The museum should be rethought completely.

We went to this museum as we purchased a 9 euro student ticket that included the natural history museum, the train tour of Mdina, the Roman domus and the catacombs. The staff were very friendly and answered all questions easily. However the museum was quite small, it had exhibitions of breeding birds, a conchology exhibition etc. A very quick visit,... More
