We enjoyed this little show. There is often a crowd so try to arrive early to get a spot. The gardens are beautiful and view amazing so you won’t regret arriving early. A must see when in Valletta.

Daily gun/ cannon firing Salute overlooking the harbours in Valletta taking in the spectacular views. You can see the salute from the upper gardens above but its well worth paying the small fee to go down into the battery to see the guns up close...More

It sounds around noon. We saw it from a harbor cruise so it wasn't crowded like what you could see on the balcony of the Upper Barrakah gardens. It gives you a little taste of what it means to be attacked by canon.

You can also visit the Saluting Battery and not just see it from a distance from where you will loose most of the experience. Mario

This is one of those things you simply have to see when visiting Malta. Worth coming early if you want to see the firing of the mid day gun as it can get quite busy.

I’m impressed that any city can keep up this historical ritual when it is so loud and disruptive. I hated it.More

At noon a Canon fires. That's it folks. A Big Gun fires. Some seemed supprised when it went off. Odd

Amusing and entertaining hint of the British occupation. Be there at 1000 or 1600 for the bang and the smoke. No cannonballs fired or animals injured, although pigeons scatter from the terrace!

Sorry but Malta was not occupied by the British but they were invited to protect the island by the very Maltese during the Napoleonic Wars. And they behaved so well that they lasted for almost 200 years here. Mario

I would NOT get tickets. I did and the view at ground level was obstructed by some tall people in front if us. There is a narrow sidewalk people stand to watch, therefore, you could be blocked like I was. All of my pics... More
