After a long bus ride to get here, we were hot and tired. However, as soon as we stepped off the bus, we were blown away by the entrance to the city. Really impressive way to enter the old city.

The whole of the City Gate area, from the Triton Fountains to the Parliament and Contemporary Art Institute and the Teatr Rjal is a superb example of good urban design and outstanding architecture.

We would have liked to have more background on the design and symbolic meaning of this striking feature of downtown Valletta.
