We parked down near the beach which is about 1km from the start of the gorge itself. Guide book says you can walk a circuit up the gorge then back down to the beach slightly to the north but we just walked about a couple...More

If you like climbing and walking you have to go this trail. It is beautiful, very calm and during October not overcrowded. The trail lies the most of the time in the shadow. There was not much water inside the river bed, but that is...More

What a wonderful place to have a placid, not demanding walk at. We spent a lovely few hours here. There is a car park, toilets and a tap with drinking water at the entrance. Highly recommended!

Mostly shaded great easy-mild walk. Linear, so you can come back when you had enough. As you go deeper, you need to climb over boulders.

Park your private car at the top (although some drive down with regular cars) and walk down to the beginning of the trail (it's only 400 meters). You get into the gorge pretty quickly, and than it's shady and not hot at all. Enjoy the...More

We hiked the full 15-kilometer loop up the Avamas Gorge and then down the road to Lara Beach. Unfortunately, we did it during the first weekend in September and the temperature around 32 C and VERY sunny. That's not a big problem when you're in...More

The entrance to Avakas gorge is situated at the bottom of an unmade road so 4x4 transport and sensible shoes are required. After around half a mile walking on a flat track you enter the gorge itself, which is spectacular with sheer walls rising a...More

We liked it. It's very hot in the summer season, but once wen you are in the gorge, it's not so hot. There are a lot of slippery stones, so be careful. We have seen people with sandals and flip-flops.. You don't need buggy or...More

Avakas Gorge is a stunning place to visit. We left off at 7:30am and arrive by 8:30am which was great as the sun wasn't too unbearable. Decent hiking footwear is a must if you are planning to scramble and climb through the top end of...More

There is no bus to take you there. If you are adventurous you can hire a small open roof four wheel motor bike (carries 2 people) and can use it to explore the area further like the Lara beach for example. Other ways... More

If i remember correctly there are teo main parkingplaces. Down by the sea and about 500 m up the road towards the gorge. But you need a 4x4 to go there.
