There's a lot to see and do in this Baroque city. Unfortunately, it's completely overwhelmed with tourists, which makes actually doing so virtually impossible. Unless you feel compelled to visit Mozart's (and Doppler's), I'd look elsewhere.

Very interesting old world city center. Don't miss the glockenspiel playing. Try and take a handsome cab (horse drawn carriage) ride thru the city.

The old part of any town is always a good start and this one is no exception. It's not very big, so you can see pretty much everything in one full day (on foot).

This is a seriously weird place. A plethora of Christmas-themed shops and museums in high summer. Mozart themed .... welk, everthing! Men in lederhosen and women dressed as oldie-worldie milk maids. Salzburg old town is less like Austria, more like Disneyland. Retailers and restaurants therefore...More

I thought this might be shabby, busy or difficult to photograph but none of these. It was photogenic and did not disappoint. Had a problem finding it but got there in the end.

It is a very attractive place to visit. With its cobbled streets and old buildings it has the charm of the old times gone by. Yet it is modern and cosmopolitan. We had a good time here. Just wish we get to spend more time...More

In addition to the house where Mozart was born, a fountain at the Domplatz (Cathedral Square) used in the Sound of Music, Mozart Square and the Salzburg Cathedral (Dom), just strolling through the narrow old streets, browsing shops or stopping for a coffee, beer or...More

I took a Sound of Music tour and we stopped at an area where there were pretty mountain views. The one advantage to taking a SOM tour is that you do see some areas outside of Salzburg that you might not otherwise see if you... More
