Being one of my favorite composers, if not my favorite, I couldn't miss it. Although it is grand enough and represents this Titan of music in all his seriousness, steeliness and solitude, a bigger place would have been nice. The sitting position weirdly reminded me of Michelangelo's Moses, with its imposing appearance, and sense of being in command.

For People who like this kind of music who is a big part of this town then You have to go here only for taking a photo at least.. I should walk to Stadtpark and then on the map I saw that I will see it on my walk. It was a feeling that he was a little alone and... More

Saw it in the square. Great statue, but missing the flavor of the man that he was and the influence he had over music from the 18th century to the 21st.

The great German artist lived in Vienna for the most part of his life and died here in 1827. The bronze statue, designed by the sculptor Caspar Clemens von Zambush, was erected in 1880 at the Beethovenplatz, near the Konzerthaus.

There is music and imagination in every place around the statue. It's not like any statue you will see in any European City. There is something different about it. It is very near to Stadtpark so you can enjoy both beauties in the same time. Don't miss it.

Such an exceptional talent and artist, and one of the most valuable people needs much more than this lonely and forgotten square. It took me a lot to notice it. I don't understand why it is not in Burggarten or other place in the centre. Other than that, the statue is creative and moving.

Beethoven came to Vienna at the age of 22 & died here at the age of 57 & in between changed his residence about 60 times like a gypsy! Sculptor Casper Zambusch who constructed this bronze statue to honor him, seem to have two fundamentals in his mind while constructing this statue. One was to depict the personal traits of Beethoven`s love... We saw the statue on a bus tour. It was beautiful and full of detail. Everything in inner Vienna is walking distance.

Staying in Inner City

Neighbourhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the centre. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
