This place is so huge that on their website they have a system for finding your loved one - or a celebrity - if you get lost! It really is an eye-opener and reminds me somewhat of the cemetery in Havana, Cuba. There are many famous people buried here - or with a memorial to them and it makes an... More

Beethoven, Mozart (after reading up, not sure if it's his actual resting place or a memorial), Strauss, Schubert, Brahms... All side by side in the middle of this HUGE cemetery. Even aside from these guys, some of the gravestones/markers/monuments all around the grounds are spectacular.

This cemetery is easily accessible via tram as others have noted from the U3 Simmering station. Once getting off at the TOR2 stop, you walk a short distance to the gate. A short ways down the walkway from the gate on the left, you will find the gravesites of many of Austria's famous composers, including Beethoven, Schubert, and a memorial... More

Central Cemetery was rather huge. It is easily accessible using metro and tram services. The cemetary has graves of Mozart etc. It is far away from the main Vienna city center but I would recommend visiting this place to better understand history.

This trip is well worth the effort. Quite easy to get the metro to Simmering (U3 last stop) and then the tram outside the station is just 4 stops. Get off at Tor2. I don't think it's the name of the stop but it's the second entrance you meet and if in doubt the people on the tram will know... More

Away from the historic Vienna but would recommend to visit this place and look at its history, in particular Hedy Lamarr's monument/grave in memory of her invention - look her up on Wikepidia! Seeing it with autumn colours added to the experience.

is not fast go to the tomb. Take the train on Wien Mitte, S7 (to the airport) aisle 1 (every 30 min, ticket of 2.2eur) and leave on Zentralfriedhof (the 4th station) walk for the same way of the rail (brick wall) and in 200m is the gate 11. Walk until the main street (when see the big church, 20min... More

The central cemetery is amazing, especially for musician, and for a Jewish person. I saw graves of so many important musicians, of course, including Beethoven, Schubert, Brahms, the Johan Strausses, Ligeti, Arnold Schoenberg, Hugo Wolf. Egon Wellesz, Franz von Suppe, a Mozart memorial Franz Werfel. I was thrilled when I realized that Joe Zawinul was also buried there and sought... More

I do like walking in a cemetery to enjoy a little solitutde and contemplation over many things. This is one of the largest cemetery I have ever been and it was very lovely and peaceful when I visited there. Not to mention lots of famous composers and artists alike are buried there, so I made a quick visit to pay... More

We visited this cemetery this November, and I think our timing was very good. Weather was cold, skies were dark and rain was about to start. We took Gate 1 entry and were surprised, that almost no people were there. Start your journey here and take walk through Old Jewish cemetery. You will feel like a last person in the... More
