Wiener Porzellanmanufaktur Augarten, the second oldest porcelain manufactory in Europe, was founded in 1718. The “white gold” from Vienna has been lovingly moulded and shaped, glazed and painted by hand ever since; every single item of finest Augarten porcelain is just unique now as it was then. Design and artistic value reflect collaboration with generations of well-known artists. Augarten upholds this tradition, working closely with some of the most respected designers of our day.

I enjoyed learning about what goes into making pottery and the history of it. However, it wasn't a very large museum and there wasn't a lot to see. Also, the gift shop was small and everything was incredibly expensive! I'm glad I went, but I...More

While the tour is held in German there are English headphones. I picked up key words and generally looked as I’m familiar with making with porcelain. I was keen to see another porcelain factory and this one, while small, was perfect to get an overview...More

My wife is very keen on pottery, so our visit here was absolutely incredible, as she was able to provide deeper insights above and beyond the descriptions on the wall plaques. Yes, the gift shop is pricey if you consider only the porcelain, but there...More

The tour guide speaks German. English speakers are given an audioguide, which has very limited descriptions of the main areas seen in the factory. This information is clearly far less than is provided in German, and when I asked a question the tour guide was...More

Went in here while passing by. Some nice things but the best looking pieces were quite expensive. Took a look around but didn't buy anything.

The factory is open Monday to Thursday. The time it is opened is varied so must check before you go. We missed the tour of the working factory. We did see their small collection of lovely artistic pieces from this factory. One can also buy...More

Either with or without the factory tour, the museum is worth a visit. Everything well-described, German/English, opened new in 2010. History of porcelain, old and new creations.

I'm interested in ceramics, so a walk across Augarten to the Royal Porcelain Manufactory was worthwhile. The gallery has an entry fee, so only bother if this is an area of interest for you. The displays themselves are nicely laid out; principally narrated in German,...More
