The menu selection is not very big but the food is very good. Traditional cuisine of Vienna.Service is very friendly. Prices are ok.

Very welcoming bar/pub. Lovely food. Not touristy at all. Had previously been to Schonbrunn Palace and came across this bar by mistake.

Just had an AMAZING lunch at the tiny Maxing Stüberl restaurant near the Schönbrunn Palace. We went in for some of their famous kaiserschmarren. That plan was foiled when a very grandmotherly looking woman told us, No! She would get us a spritz and a beer then make us some Wiener schnitzel and Backhuhn and salads and THEN kaiserschmarren! She... More

Wow! What an awesome way to end a very long 8 day journey. On May 31, 2014 my husband, niece and I spent an overnight in Vienna on our way home to Chicago. At the front desk of hour hotel (Renaissance Wien Hotel - excellent hotel BTW) we were recommended to go to this restaurant instead of the usual 'must... More

I went here twice, on both my first and last night in Vienna. The first time my family and I went, we found the atmosphere very charming and historic, the food authentic and delicious, the portions very generous, and all for a grand total of 53 euros! The next time we were served by another waiter, and older man with... More

Staying in Hietzing

Neighbourhood Profile
Vienna’s 13th district has always been in the shadow of Schönbrunn Palace and its gardens, but has interesting hidden gems waiting to be discovered. Allow half a day for the imposing Habsburg residence and the gardens with Gloriette belvedere. Reserve the other half to discover the secret charms of this posh residential neighbourhood. Sneak out of the gardens at Hietzinger Tor (Hietzing Gate) and head down Hietzinger Hauptstrasse for Kaiserpavillon (Emperor’s pavilion), an Art Nouveau gem right on top of U4’s metro railtracks. At local institutions Café Dommayer and restaurant Plachutta you can mingle with residents, their families and friends. Dommayer has risen to fame since waltz king Johann Strauss and his orchestra performed there regularly. If you want to go beyond private villa gazing visit Klimtvilla and Hermesvilla. Art Nouveau genius Gustav Klimt had his last studio in a now beautifully renovated villa, which is open during spring and summer. Hermesvilla at Lainzer Tiergarten animal enclosure and nature park is a must for all romantics and fans of Empress Sissi.
