The wine cellar is a great way to try numerous Austrian wines from around the country with measures from 25ml to 100ml you can choose how much to pay and if you like one then top up or simply move on. The prices were quite high, typically between €5-10 for each 100ml

This was an amazing drop in place. Great wine selection. Great finger food and a very laid back atmosphere. Have recommended this to everyone visiting the area.

We were looking for a winebar in Vienna, and found that this had excellent reviews. We picked the 5-wine tasting, and got great pours from the sommelier. After every pour, they explained where the wine was from, and how it is made. It was great to have the knowledge before drinking, and the sommelier was very nice and not stuck... More

We went here after recommdation from our guide book. We called in early evening and other than 2 locals we were the only ones in there for at least an hour. The couple who ran it were most helpful with our wine choice based on what we liked. We tried 3 different ones while there. We also had a bowl... More

Great stop for wine tasting in the heart of Vienna. The wine bar is downstairs in a cave, interesting spot. Run by a husband and wife who were very accommodating and gracious. We had a wine flight of 5 Austrian wines and fresh parmesan carved right form the wheel, what a treat.

This wine bar you travel down, deep into the cellar. What more of a perfect place for enjoying wine. The bartender was so friendly and helpful with suggestions. After having a glass of wine each, we shared the days suggestion of a flight of 5 tasting.

The perfect place for a glass a wine with friends in the heart of the city. The main room is in the basement of a very old building (don't miss the 500-year old circular staircase) next to the Graben. The food is cold antipasti (great charcuterie platter). As a drink we always like to have the Ménage A Trois (excellent... More

A strange mix from old and modern provides a very dissapointing ambiance and atmosphere. By far the worst is the - i believe german - couple running this place providing rather bad service and low level of expertese. My recommendation: don't go there, there are much better places around.

We happened upon Villon Weinbar after a concert and decided to take a look inside. The winebar is located in a very old building, indeed it goes down over 4 levels and if you are lucky, the owner will take you down for a private tour. Tour alone is fascinating and gives you a feel for these beautiful historic buildings.... More

Staying in Inner City

Neighbourhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the centre. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
